Clearwater Valley Health Welcomes Dr. Ally Loveland
Clearwater Valley Health is excited to welcome their newest provider, Dr. Ally Loveland.
Dr. Loveland chose to work at CVH “because it provided all the things I was looking for in my first position following residency – a rural setting with proximity to outdoor activities (bonus that it is in the West), a supportive and education-centered environment where I felt I could continue to grow as a physician, and a place where I could practice full spectrum family medicine and have a positive impact on the community,” says Loveland.
Dr. Loveland will be seeing patients at the clinic in Orofino and covering some Hospitalist shifts at CVH, and eventually will be working in the Emergency Department.
Living in Orofino lends itself well to the things that Dr. Loveland enjoys doing. Her hobbies include spending time outside, hiking, and kayaking, “but if I feel like spending the night in, I also enjoy playing guitar, singing, binge-watching TV shows on Netflix, crocheting, and am always trying to learn new skills,” says Loveland. She’s also no stranger to small town life as she was born and raised in Southwest Missouri, in a little town called Hollister.
“One of the great problems with family medicine physicians, is that we often like a little bit of everything, so it can be difficult to pick one area of focus,” Says Loveland. “I am dedicated to rural and underserved medicine, but I would also say that patient education is one of the most important aspects of my job. Knowledge for patients is power and improves their understanding of the illness they may have, the medications they take, and the potential effects of either.”
Dr. Loveland states that her least favorite part of healthcare is the universal frustration that surrounds the healthcare system that providers have to learn to work within. “At the end of the day, we want what’s best for our patients, but unfortunately that does not always align with this system which often leads to dissatisfaction among patients as well as their providers.”
Dr. Loveland and her husband moved to Orofino in September with their two dogs, Jola (15) and Rebel (10). “We are both originally from the Midwest, but knew we wanted to stay in the West after living in Wyoming for 3 years during my residency. We came to Orofino and knew it was where we wanted to go next after visiting last year, and the rest is history,” says Loveland.
