Belinda Stockton Memorial Wishing Tree

Make a child’s Christmas wish come true through the Belinda Stockton Memorial Wishing Tree Program, a holiday giving program of the Clearwater Valley Health Foundation. Through the generosity of our community, this long-standing tradition helps provide Christmas gifts and holiday joy to local children whose families may need a helping hand.

Each year, local families submit wish lists for their children, generous community members purchase gifts, and CVH caregivers coordinate the program from start to finish. Together, we help ensure that children throughout our community experience the joy and magic of Christmas.

How the Program Works

The Wishing Tree program is made possible through the partnership of three groups:

• Local families, who submit wish lists for their children
• Community donors, who select and fulfill gift requests
• The CVH Wishing Tree Committee, which coordinates the program and ensures gifts reach families in time for Christmas

Whether you’re applying for assistance, adopting a wish list, or making a donation, your participation helps make the holiday season brighter for children across our community.

Family Applications

Application Deadline: November 6, 2026

Eligibility

To qualify for the Wishing Tree Program:

• Children must be in 6th grade or younger
• Applications must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian
• Families must reside within School District 171, including Orofino, Timberline, Peck, and Cavendish

Adopt a Star

The Wishing Tree will be displayed at Orofino Health Clinic (OHC), with each star representing a local child’s Christmas wish list.

Community members can help by:

• Picking a star in person at OHC
• Emailing wishingtree@kh.org to have a star selected for you
• Adopting siblings – a great option for businesses, organizations, churches, and teams looking to give back together

Our goal is to have every star claimed by November 21, 2026, so every child can receive gifts in time for Christmas.

Gift Drop-Off

Gifts Due: December 10, 2026

Please:

• Wrap all gifts
• Attach the original star to the gift as the tag
• Return gifts to Orofino Health Clinic

Receiving gifts by December 10 allows the committee time to purchase any remaining items and balance wish lists so every child receives a joyful Christmas.

Other Ways to Help

If you’re unable to shop but would still like to help, donations are always appreciated. Gifts to the Wishing Tree help ensure every child receives something special at Christmas, regardless of whether their star is selected.

Honoring Belinda Stockton

Belinda Stockton was a dedicated caregiver at Clearwater Valley Health and a passionate supporter of the Clearwater Valley Health Foundation. Throughout her 46 years of service, she devoted countless hours to advancing the Foundation’s mission and helping improve the lives of patients and families throughout our community.

Belinda was instrumental in creating and supporting numerous programs that benefited patients, including the beloved Wishing Tree program. She became President of the Foundation Committee in 2000 and led with unwavering dedication, compassion, and generosity for more than two decades.

In the spring of 2023, we lost our beloved Belinda after her courageous battle with cancer. Known affectionately as “Mrs. Claus,” Christmas was her favorite time of year, and the Wishing Tree held a special place in her heart.

To honor Belinda’s memory, her years of service, and her extraordinary commitment to helping others, the Foundation Committee proudly renamed this program the Belinda Stockton Memorial Wishing Tree. Through this tradition, her spirit of kindness and giving continues to touch the lives of children and families in our community.
