Clearwater Valley Health Welcomes New Family Medicine Physician, Anna Fox, MD

By Dr. Anna Fox

First, thank you to those who have already made me feel welcome in the Orofino community.

My general practice will include the same spectrum of care provided by many of the local family physicians: primary care clinic, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, and prenatal and nonsurgical obstetric care.

Allow me a brief introduction to you, my new community members and neighbors. I was born and raised on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state where my parents worked as a physician assistant and nurse midwife/nurse practitioner. I am the youngest of five siblings, all of whom still live in the Pacific Northwest. I began pursuing medicine as my vocation at an early age, always with the intent to practice in rural settings in the US and abroad.

I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Washington, focusing on Microbiology (BS) and Medical Anthropology and Global Health (BA). I attended medical school at University College Dublin School of Medicine in Ireland, where a national healthcare system necessitates resource awareness. I completed family medicine residency at the Magic Valley Rural Training Program in Twin Falls and Jerome, Idaho.

After meeting a graduate from my residency program working within CVH, and subsequently visiting Orofino, I found a vibrant, forward-thinking health care community dedicated to the highest possible quality of care despite limited resources. This, surrounded by enough wilderness to keep any outdoor enthusiast endlessly occupied. Having prospected the possibility of joining rural medical practices of various sizes and descriptions across multiple states, I am impressed by the collaborative and sustainable model the community here works hard to maintain. I am grateful for the invitation to join the medical staff of such a place, and I look forward to contributing to and learning from all that makes this community and landscape unique.
